Add a feminine touch to your tree at Christmas with these pretty great paper handbags. They are perfect for hanging a chocolate or a small gift on the tray but looked lovely just as they are.
We have used double sided crepe paper to make them which is a different color on each side. But ordinary crepe paper would work just as well.
Cut a 16 x 17 cm rectangle of crepe paper with the long sides of the rectangle parallel with the grain of the lines on the paper. Use a pencil and ruler to draw a line across the center of the paper and what will be the inside. Gently stretch the short edges of the paper between your fingers to create a frilled effect.
Use a 20 cm length of silver cord to make a handle. Sealed the ends of the cord with household glue to prevent them from frail, then, use a glue dot to stick the ends in place just inside the short edge of the bag. Using a piece of scrap paper to protect your work surface, run paper glue along the long edges of the crepe paper and fold in half along the fold line.
Cut a small square of blue crepe paper and frilled it to opposite edges working with the grain as before. Use paper blue to stick the square to the front of the bag then decorate with a star sticking it on with a glue dot.
