Create a Video from Still Photos Using QuickTime

Hi, I am Bob Stovall of the 7DollarVideoStore.com and what we are going to do today is give you a quick little video show on how to make a video from stills using the QuickTime Player under Macintosh. So, we are going to use QuickTime Player Pro, you can get QuickTime Player Pro by going to the Apple website and upgrading from QuickTime Player. I think it is about $29.95 and it is one of those great investments. Now, what I have here is a folder full of stills photographs. And what we have got is because I know I am making a movie, I made the title as you can see here. This is for a home that we are selling. We are going to make assure the video that we had normally make, we usually have like 20 videos, 20 stills or maybe 30 stills in one of these things. This is going to have six or seven as we were showing you how to do this. Then we have images of the house itself. I am just going to run through them real quick here, so you can see what I am doing. And then we have a closing title. Now what we have done is, we have given each of these images the name 5217 and then dash 01, 02, 03, 04, 05. The 5217- tells QuickTime that this are part of the same sequence, same image sequence. The 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etcetera down to 8 tells QuickTime, the order that you want them in. So, what we do next is we go to the QuickTime Player. And we go to Open Image Sequence, and it gives us this little dialog box that tells us to open. And, we navigate to that folder, the video-from-stills folder. And all you do is click on the first one, the first video of the series. And then click Open, it then asks you what image sequence settings you want to the frame rate. You can set a frame rate anywhere from the 60 frames per second, which is quite fast and quite smooth. All you have to 10 seconds per frame, we are going to set it at 4 seconds for frame. Today, I think that is a nice setting for this type of slideshow. So you click OK, and there you go. You got your images inside QuickTime with a 4-second period, as you watch to count to 4 here, there goes the changes. The change until 8. So, every 4 seconds you got an image. That were going to drive us back to the beginning, I am going to show you how to add sound. Let us say you have some music that you want to add to it or even if you have a narration track that you record separately, you have it as an mp3. You open that in QuickTime Player and that opens another movie. So then, you go to Edit and you choose to Select All or use Command A, and you copy it. Then you go back to this movie, make sure that you set at the beginning of the movie. Okay, so you set that at the beginning and then you Paste. It is that simple. Then you go back to the beginning again and you play, and you got the whole thing to put together. When you play it back, you will have the sound and the video. The next thing you want to do is come up here and save this. You can save it as a self-contained movie that you can then play back wither on your desktop or another computer that has QuickTime installed with its Mac or Windows or you can embed it in your website or in your blog as .mov file. Now, one little extra. If you go to website called perian.org and get their QuickTime extension. It gives you a whole another set of possibilities. So if you go to export, then you normally have a small number of things here that come with the QuickTime Player but this is going to add some good ones on. But most importantly is this one right here. A Movie to Macromedia Flash Video, makes a .flv file, Flash Video File add of the .mov file that QuickTime Player produces. You can then embed that into your website using pretty much any player that is available for use on the internet. Or if you are using a WordPress blog, you can use a plugin called FLV Embed to just play it on your website. So that is about it for today. That is what you need to know here.
