Fantastic topic for today's show comes from one of you, the viewing audience, where there's so much to appreciate, because, hey, then it's personal, then it's relevant, so why not give me those topics, I would love to talk about stuff like that. Topic for today, how do I get ready for the schooldays, so that when I show up, the bell rings for the first period, I feel like I'm ready to go, I'm ready for an awesome day.
It's a great topic, because whether your child watching this or you are an adult, a parent watching this, everybody has a morning routine that they go through to get themselves ready for an incredible day. When that routine doesn't happen, you know exactly what happened. You day just starts to pull. That becomes more and more difficult to kind of climb out that, now I am in incredible day.
So, what can we do? Number one, let's see if we can move some of the morning items to the night before. Now, obviously, you can't brush your teeth. You're going to do that in the morning. You can't really move that to the night before. So there are some things you're going to need to do in the morning, but a lot of that routine can be pushed to the night before: getting your lunch ready, laying out the clothes, making sure the homework is in the backpack and the backpack is in a place where all you have to do is pick it up, lock out the door.
So create a list of all of those items. Here are the goals. Number one, minimize the amount of time it takes to get ready in the morning, so that you can maximize the amount of time sleeping. Yes, a little bit of time the night before, maximizing the amount of time. It's not just number of hours, but it's the feeling that you get when you go to sleep at night and you feel prepared for the next day. You're not worried about what I need to do tomorrow morning. What is it that's coming up? You're ready.
By that alone, you're sleeping much better. You feel refreshed, you feel alive the next morning. So that's secondary, but really a huge part of getting ready the night before. So take your list and experiment with this. See what things on your list you can't get done the night before. What is it that I can move to the night before that's going to help me get ready for the next day?
Then the next morning, take a gaze on how you really feel about the day. Are you ready? Do you feel prepared? Do you feel relaxed? If so, great! Keep that routine going. It takes about 30 days to solidify a new routine.
So the first week, relatively easy, because you've got all of the energy, you're trying something new. It's weeks 2, 3, and 4, where you're going to have to really grind on it to make sure that you solidify it as a new routine. Once it's in place, it becomes easy, and hey, you've got a whole life changed ahead of you.
