Creating a Perfect Home Office
Todd Davis: Hey, I'm Todd Davis. You know millions of people are trying to remodel spaces in their homes to accommodate businesses. Take Neil and Phyllis Estrada of Long Beach, California.
When their barbeque business started to sizzle they needed a place to do the books.
Neil: Welcome to our loft. What we have planned here is to have an office for my wife. She has got a thousand of ideas and no ;.one took her vision.
Phyllis: So we need to get this floor finish. We have a funky style floor that we use thinset that we not use thinset.
Todd Davis: Phyllis, happy thoughts. It’s a tall order but we’re fired up and ready to go. First we’re going to put some cement board on the floor then we lay the tile that compliments the unique wall colors. We’ll install some trim then run baseboard down by the floor where it belongs.
We’ll fancy this place up until it’s fit for Southern California newest barbeque king and his queen. The Estrada’s home catering office is open for business. But just a few days ago the room was an exactly ready to serve.
Phyllis: I'm very excited to see the room. I'm ready to go whenever you guys say open the door I'm there just—yes.
Todd Davis: One, two, three. Welcome to your new office.
Phyllis: Ah I got a floor, yeah sweet I'm thinking this. You're so good. I didn’t know you. —oh, it’s all work up. You're so special. We’ve got curtains.
Neil: Look at the pictures.
Todd Davis: Pictures of the barbeque we have and Neil kept this plan all the time?
Phyllis: You just have to come in my room. Cool. I’m loving the new floor I actually have a floor, it’s not crappy wood anymore.
Todd Davis: Yeah, no more splitters for Morgan and you get to dance around with all your new orders.
Neil: Look no squeaks.
Phyllis: It’s Neil proof.
Neil: There’s no noise at all—look at that.
Todd Davis: But do you know it’s actually really good because once you’ve completed with this you can move on into the bathroom, right. And the fans or when you have all of your clients up here you know, keep the place cool when you have 15 people up here.
Phyllis: I have just like shut them a nice than a good way. I'm actually amazed that he did so much my husband is not the handy man so. There are no barbeque sauce things on anything so I'm just happy. See the base board is where it supposes to be.
Todd Davis: And Phyllis looks in your lovely new desk over here.
Phyllis: Oh, I have a desk.
Todd Davis: Now, this isn't just a normal desk, this is a desk that Neil built himself and it’s entire.
Phyllis: I just need a file cabinet and some clients and I'm good to go.
Todd Davis: Phyllis we did have a little bit help around here. Andy Hampton our master carpenter.
Phyllis: Oh, Andy.—
Andy Hampton: I have a blast working with Neil he super passionate about barbequing, I'm super passionate about doing home improvement and that was a great time.
Phyllis: You see I got a floor. It got a ceiling here.
Neil: Do you see that. I'm really happy about the office it really came out well and I'm happy that Phyllis is happy about it. You know, when mama’s happy, everybody is happy.
