Creating a Space Explosion in After Effects P.4

Yeah, so the key frame there. We do not want to get to go right from the beginning so—about few frames into it we will have the laser coming in to the screen. Now what we need to do is to adjust the laser, turn it into a 3D layer. Open up our transform. Get X rotation and we need to flatten it out and position it so that it looks like it is flying into the ship. Now the position because this is the last key frame, we want to move it right in so that is right on the ship. So if you hold down your shift and move your position key right across as you get there quite quickly, alright. I will say about here will be a good place because that is where the explosion actually starts. Insert key frame. Now this is one of the things where you do this in reverse because it is a lot easier to do this backwards. Now we move the laser out from the ship. So hold down your shift and move it right out. Set the motion blur. And laser should fly right into the ship. Now if does not look very straight, scrub through the actual timer, you can see that it is not quite straight so we need to adjust the orientation of that. So try to get it so that the laser actually lines up with the lines, here we go nothing else quite good and, yes, that it is.

So if we just do another ram-preview we will see what we come back with. There you go, it is looking quite good. Over you will notice that the laser does not actually stop in the same place where the explosion kicks off and it did actually move quite slowly so what we probably need to do is actually change this so that it comes in quite fast. So will close this up a bit, move this key frame here, so that is the starting point. Got that right and very last key frame just before it explodes let us move it over here, let us have a look at that, that is looking quite accurate and there we have it.

Now for final touch to this, it does not do anything about sound so we have a few sound files to add to this. We are going to get the first laser sound effect and we will move that underneath. And we will line in just as the laser shoots so as the laser appears, there we have it, it comes in just as the explosion activates we get our explosion one file, move it down here and place it here. If we get our explosion five file and move it just as the secondary huge explosion kicks in. That is around about here, and there you have it.
