Hi! I am Tasha with the Erwin Gomez Salon & Spa. Today, we will be creating the look of the one and only Beyoncé Knowles. Now, that we've had all of her hair sectioned off, we want to begin to part the hair for curling.
You are going to want to take a much firmer hairspray, something fairly not too much whole but it could be a nice amount. Take each section, you are going to want to spray just about a generous amount throughout all of the hair. Take your comb, comb that product all the way through.
Now, we are going to take our three-inch curling iron, and we are going to curl the hair. You don't want to open it up as so, take the hair, close it, wrap the hair around the curling iron, pull it out a little bit, bring that hair back up. You are going to want to keep your hand holding the tail of the curl each time, bring that down, wind the hair back up. Come down a little bit more, and wind the hair up.
You are going to want to kind of direct your curling iron downwards slightly until you get the very tip of that curl. You definitely want to make sure that you are not too close to the scalp so that you don't burn yourself, and go through and release that curl, where you have a tight spiral.
Go through to the next section, also remember you are going to make your diagonal parting, take your hairspray, spray down throughout all of the hair, comb the product through. Do the same thing, open your curling iron, close the iron, wrap the hair around a few times, bring it down, wind it back up.
And the reason why you are going to want to go through is start closer to the scalp of the hair because as you are going through, what you are doing you are curling the top area first and working your way down the hair just so that the curl is tight all the way from the base to the end. If you start from the end and work your way up, you are only going to have curl along the bottom. So this gives you curl all the way through. I am going to come to the next section.
One of the reasons why I am starting at the nape and elongating these curls downwards meaning holding my curling iron down. What this is going to do it's going to elongate the curls along the bottom. See where you have a little teeny bit of straightness there but she still has some curl, as this curl kind of comes down, it's going to elongate it to create a show off more length to your hair. Go through, want to do round a couple of times.
Now, we are going to go to the next section, we are going to curl this hair very similar to the first but slightly a teeny bit different. Go through, make your diagonal parting.
Now, we are going to alternate directions on how we curl the hair, meaning the first time we went ahead and directed our curling iron downwards, this time we are going to direct it up. You see what I go through at the curl, wind it at the root, come out a little bit, wind that hair all the way around. Make sure you are controlling the tail, bring that out a little bit more. So kind of open it to release it a tiny bit, wind it back down. So you are creating big spirals.
Now, it's okay if your curling iron or if your hair gets slightly stuck to your curling iron, just a teeny bit, that's just the product. Your hair is already protected so you won't burn it, go through and release that hair where you have a tight curl.
Once you have gone through and curled just about almost a whole head, you are going to want to go through and basically curl the top slightly a little different. We are going to go through still taking that diagonal parting, once you have your section, take the top, comb the hair straight up, take your product, spray it all the way throughout all of the hair, comb it through as so. I am going to basically pull the hair together, go through, it's going to pull that hair together as so.
Take your curling iron, open it up so you are going to open it where the handle base is towards you, open the hair, wrap all of your hair completely around the barrel, then close it. Hold it for a couple of seconds, pull it out some, hold it for a couple of seconds until you feel it's slightly heat up, you want to go through as you open it and you release your curling iron, pull the hair out of the curling iron and it's laid down. So you can kind of see where it's going to give you a nice weird kind of corkscrew kind of a wave.
Go to your next section. Now, we are at a different section, take the hair, combing the little fly-aways down with it, take your product. Now you want to pull off of the face, spray your product backwards so you are going to spray it out like that. Kind of hit the base a little bit, spray all the way throughout all of the hair. Now, that time you can spray that just a little teeny bit closer to the hair just so that you are not spraying any of that product into the eyes. You want to go through, do the same thing, but this time we are going to wind up, come down, hold the end, wind up, come back down. And do the same thing till you get the whole ends, pull all the way out and then wind that hair back down. Hold it till you feel a little bit of heat, get the ends, pull that hair through, and let it sit and cool by itself.
Now, when we come to this top section here, I am going to take a little tiny bit smaller sections, go through, spray, and wind these teeny bit closer and a little bit tighter. This I am going to do this at the crown of the head, directly at the top. Take the hair wind it out, and the main reason why you are going to wind that slightly a little bit tighter because you want to create more lift and more volume and due to the top everything else is going to be elongated.
Now, the same just like as we did at the top, we are going to go through over direct towards the back, spray your part a little closer to your root. Now, this time since we did the first section we did that backwards mainly kind of winding off of the face. This time we are going to come down. So we are going to roll the hair, it's going to be a big barrel, almost like a spiral curl, bring the hair out some. But you are angling the hair as you are pulling it through.
Now, that's how we go ahead and curl all of the hair. And next, we are going to go through and finish and complete our look.
