Cutting Small Trim Molding With Dewalt Mitre Box

Hi, I’m Bob Schmidt with Home Remodel Workshop. Don’t throw away the scraps that you get sometimes while you’re working on your project. They’ll come in handy. Sometimes, using in tandem with your miter box when cutting small trim. Let me show you how to do it.

When cutting small trim even in a miter box, it has a tendency to blow the pieces and particularly if it's not supported. What I recommend to do is take a small scrap of wood, put it behind the trims supporting it across the entire gap and then go ahead and cut it. You should come out with a nice, clean cut and as you can see about the final result, that small amount of trim makes a big difference.

So there you go. Go ahead and back up that small and delicate trim with a piece of scrap and you should be just fine.
