STEP ONE: DON'T GET SHOT
The cornerstone of this handgun disarming system is a five step formula for survival as I call it and we will run down through each of the steps now.
Step one, and this maybe stating the obvious but the obvious in this case needs to be stated and that is, don't get shot. Let's talk about what that means.
Step one, don't get shot can accomplish with three basic things, and the first one would be Body Movement.
Now, the gun goes off. I maybe deaf in one ear for three weeks, maybe blind in one eye, I may have a big bloody gouge, shot through, crease down across my forehead but the bottom line is I did not get killed. From here, little hole in the front, big hole in the back. That little bit of movement right there takes care of step one.
The second thing that will help step one, not get shot is footwork. So if I take a step you can see without rolling my head or moving my body anyway if I just step use my footwork I get out of the line of the gun.
The thirst piece for accomplishing step one, not getting shot would be deflection of the gun with your hand. So for instance, if I don't step my feet, I don't roll my head, I don't lean my body in anyway, if I just simply use my hand I can deflect the gun out of the line.
If I combine all three of those elements, body movement, deflection with my hand and footwork I really get the gun out of line of my head. And so from here body movement, twisting, leaning, stepping, deflection.
