Let's talk about the ranges involved. When will you try to do the disarms in this tape. For simplicity sake let's take about close, middle, and long range. Close range, the gun is right here touching you or it's so close that you can reach right out easily and grab it, that's the range at which you would try to do these disarms that we've been taking about.
Let's talk about the other extreme, let's talk about long-range. If your attackers back up and he is in a two-handed weaver stance and there is some distance- between the two of you, then clearly I am not going to run towards him to try and do a disarm. My only alternative is to run away. I say my only alternative; keep in mind, maybe what he wants is the $18 in my pocket and the keys to my 1989 Buick. He can have those things, nothing I own is worth my life, there are a few things I don't own that are worth my life and those of you with families can understand that.
I am talking about my wife and my children, but always keep in mind that complying may mean surviving. So one of the dangers of teaching people handgun disarms is that regardless of the situation they assume that that's what they need to try to do every single time or if heaven forbids somebody sticks a gun in your face. What I am telling you is the disarms on this tape are a last resort, you only try to do the disarm if you think you are about die anyway.
