Sometimes the other passengers who could be friends or family get hurt and even die for no fault of their own. The culprit who is caught driving drunk has to pay large amounts in fees or is put behind bars.
All these things affect the near and dear ones of the alcoholic. The sad part is not all incidents of drunk driving are caused by chronic alcoholics. Some have just tried alcohol for the first time or are social drinkers. The truth is that if you were an occasional drinker, it does not make you immune from causing accidents while driving drunk.
