I love throwing parties and I love my friends, but every once in a while, a friend who seems that is okay to bring her cousin that just came in for the weekend from Iowa to your dinner party for which you just spent the past three days making individual servings of Cornish hand and chocolate soufflé.
So, here are a few tips about dealing with an unexpected guest.
So, an unexpected visitor decides to descend upon your fancy dinner party. First thing to remember, be polite. They probably do not know that they were not invited. Admit it, you probably done it too.
When you meet this unexpected visitor, make sure that you do not have a horrified and shock look on your face. Invite them in, have them sit down, offer them a glass of wine, make them feel comfortable.
While everyone is socializing, just simply squeeze-in an extra plate setting at the table. And you might want to pull aside that friend who brought this unexpected visitor and tell them that they are sharing their meal.
