Problem of the dog that gets overexcited when the doorbell rings or someone knocks on the door. So you get this kind of sound and the dog barks and gets excited, but Jack thankfully it doesn't do that, but lot of dogs do this. So what to do about that.
Well, there's a couple of easy things to do. One is to ring the doorbell or knock on the door as much as you can just get the dog used to it and don't make a fuss when you do it and the dog will quickly get the hang and realize that there's nothing to be scared of the fact that knocking on the door or the doorbell is going. So do it as much as possible.
And then the other thing you can do is if the dog makes a real nonsense of themselves when someone comes through the door. So you have a visitor, you can take the dog off and put him in the dog crate and that's another really good use for a dog crate in the kitchen to have them in the dog crate so they can just calm down and then you let them out to meet the visitor, when they're really calmed down.
