Dealing with doggy disasters
Dealing with doggy disasters can be a really dogging experience, but with a few helpful tips I can make sure you can get through whatever unpleasant situations you might come across, whether it's a home or often about in the park.
The first thing to think about is being prepared, and the most important thing to have is a first-aid kit, as this can help deal with all sorts of minor injuries, cuts, scrapes, bruises. This is just a standard human first-aid kit, and you really should have one of these at home and one of them in the cars, when you are out and about, you have got everything you might need, should your dog get injured. So, in here, we have got a selection of things. We have got bandages, dressings. We have got some antiseptic creams, everything you might need to treat a minor injury out and about, and if it is a more serious cut, you have got the bandages there to try and prevent bleeding.
Other things you should have is a ready supply of water, if you are out and about, especially if it's a hot day, to avoid heatstroke, and always have a big thick blanket in the back of your car. So if your doggies get injured, you can pick them up, wrap them in and keep them warm and get them straight down to the vets.
The other thing that you should always have to have, whether it's in your mobile phone or any first-aid kit, is the number of your vet. So you know who to ring should emergency strike, and you also need to make sure you know the number of your hours with vet as well, because that might be different to your vet that you normally go to. So if to save you ringing up, listening to an answer phone message, and then ringing the emergency vet, have the number of the emergency vet, hence you can ring them straightaway and get advice.
