And this next attack is all too common on the streets and in the bars and clubs around the country. You have all seen it happen. It’s the rugby tackle lunge. Somebody throw himself, body weight and all that. Now if you see it coming, it’s not too much of a problem, okay. You just use that knee strike that we were showing earlier and that should deal with the problem very effectively.
But if you get distracted as is often the case in the middle of a street fight or a bar brawl, then they are going to hit you, and they are going to hit you with some force, okay. So if you see it coming towards you, you have got to make room for that momentum. You have to use their momentum. So as it comes in, what you are going to do is just move yourself backwards, up and over the top, getting your chest over the top of their shoulder blades and put your body weight into the gravity that’s working against your attacker, okay.
So as they come in, the arm goes over the top so you get a control of the head, throw yourself up and backwards, get your legs at behind, get your body weight over the top of them and slam into the floor. As it comes in over the top, legs are at behind you so don't get trapped and into a drop, well it’s the last thing you want to happen. Just get your body weight over at the top of them, slam into the floor. Keep hitting, until you are up and away, don’t stay down there. Keep hitting, get yourself up and away.
Very, very simple technique. The trick is to make sure you are moving backwards, get your legs out of the way. Once more, over to top, slam him down, deal with him, get up and away. Okay, and that how to deal with the rugby tackle lunge. The key thing to remember when dealing with this attack is you are going to be hit with force. Their body weight and their momentum is completely behind their attack. It’s going to be hitting you right in the mid section and you’ve got a go with that attack, okay, but it’s not going to be as comfortable as we’re making it look. You’re going to be hit and you’re going to be hit hard.
