Denzel Washington, born December 28, 1954 in Mount Vernon, New York is a two timer Academy Award Winning Film Actor, Occasional Director and Stage Actor. When Denzel was young, he had behavioral problems which prompted his mother to send him to preparatory school in—Fordham University but Denzel discovered acting and earned himself a Degree in Journalism.
Denzel’s first Film came in the 1975 made for television movie called Wilma but his big break came when he started in the hospital drama St. Elsewhere.
In 1989, Denzel won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of define, self-possessed slave in the movie Glory.
Throughout the 90s, Denzel worked on many big budget comedies, dwellers and dramas such as Philadelphia with Tom Hanks, Crimson Tide with Gene Hackman and the Virtuous Wife with Whitney Houston.
His portrayal of boxer Rubin Carter in the 1999 Film, The Hurricane also garnered Denzel another Oscar Nomination. But one of his most critically acclaimed roles came in 1992 when he start his Malcolm X inspiredly his movie of the same name.
In 2000, Denzel appeared in the crowd pleasing Disney movie, Remember the Titans which goes to over a hundred million and the United States Box Offices alone.
In 2002, Denzel Washington won the Oscar for Best Actor for his role in Training Day making him the first African-American to win the Best Actor Oscar since Cindy Porter in 1963.
