Thom Felicia : Hi, I am Thom Felicia from Dress My Nest and I am here to dispel some design myth. Design myth number one is that white walls makes a small space seem bigger. Actually it's quite the opposite, dark walls make spaces feel bigger, because you lose all of the corners and actually the walls recede.
And also it's actually more interesting way to experience a small space. People all too often decide that a small space is going to feel much bigger if they paint it white, and put little teeny tiny furniture in it, but then it looks like a really uninteresting space with really teeny tiny furniture in it.
Whereas, if you take a small space, and you give it a really rich beautiful color so that the wall starts to recede, and then you put furniture in it that actually uses the space, and you end up being able to see four, five, six, seven, eight people, and all of a sudden it feels like a really wonderful space, that's really intimate, and it's warm and inviting, and then all of a sudden you love it, and it's not a space where you go, it's so tiny, I don't want to be in there.
