This is kind of a quick little tip and you may like this, you may also not like this at all. What I’ve done here is I put two different plants together that bloom at the same time but irrelatively the same height. I put bee balm and I’ve also put this loosestrife together.
Now, the loosestrife is the white one. This can be a little bit invasive. There are certain loosestrifes that are actually on the invasive list that you don’t ever want to plant, like the purple loosestrife. But this gooseneck loosestrife, where it’s invasive in your own garden as it will take over a little bit. It’s not so invasive that it’s going to spread all over the neighborhood. And the bee balm also spreads a little bit, one of the plants in the mint family.
What I like about this two is that the leaves are similar. So, what you get is this effect of having plant with two different colors because as you walk by it you don’t see that the leaves are that different. Now, our true gardeners is going to get up close and see that yes, the leaves are different. But they’re relatively the same shape and basically the same size and it really does give an interesting effect.
