Hi! I am Thom Filicia from Dress My Nest. I am here to answer some of your emails and to dispel some design myths. Erin from Salt Lake City, Utah writes I love with my sister who loves pink, orange, and yellow. I, however, have more conservative taste. I can't be seen in a Hello Kitty house. How do I find the right compromise? Well, Erin, it sounds like your sister is 11 and you might be a prostitute, just kidding. A great way to approach this is what I like to call splashes of color. Let's say for example, you and your sister agree on a beautiful sofa that you both love that might happen to be in your color palette, beige and then your sister is allowed to bring in fabulous sofa pillows that have great color, great pattern that she just thinks are fun and exciting. You put those throw pillows on that sofa and it's a perfect marriage, just like you and your sister.
