Toby: My name is Toby, I'm 31. I live in Houston and I was wondering how is cerebral palsy diagnosed and by what type of doctor. Dr. Lori Jordan: Toby, cerebral palsy is typically diagnosed by a pediatric neurologist, a pediatric developmental specialist or a general pediatrician with expertise in this area. So, ways that cerebral palsy may be diagnosed would be doing a physical exam and finding typical things on physical exam like tightness of the muscles, weakness of certain muscle groups and then usually an MRI has done if the doctor does suspect cerebral palsy and further testing based on the results of that MRI.
