I am Steve Turano. Welcome to this episode of Body Performance. This episode is about liars. Now, they don’t really know they are lying, they are just lying. For instance, I get people asking me all the time, “Hey Steve, I’m trying to loose that last 5 or 10 pounds. What should I do? I am not eating anything.” Oh really! Well, if you are not eating anything or you were really watching what you were eating, you would be losing weight. I don’t care what people say about slowing down your metabolism and all that stuff. If you are not eating much, you are going to be losing weight. So I asked them, “Well, give me an idea what you are eating?” “Nothing Steve, maybe did have pizza or piece of this”. And then I go, “Well, you had nothing for breakfast?” “Well, you know…” “Did you eat dinner?” “Well, yeah, kind of...” Then I asked him the typical questions. “Are you eating anything extra, things you don’t normally eat late at night? How about juices, how about colas, how about sweetened teas or drinks, things of that nature?” And then pretty soon they start thinking, they start “Yeah, well…”, and then it comes out. “Well, what about that little bowl of ice cream?” Oh really! Well that little bowl of ice cream adds up to big bowls of ice cream and then it causes you to be overweight. What about that package of liquor showed to the movies? “Well, yeah, yeah, that is going to be…” So, people inadvertently sort of either lie to themselves or lie to me about what they are reading. The same thing with people who talk to you and they say, “Oh, you know, I can eat anything that will get in the way.” And unfortunately people believe this. There is a guy at work who says he eats anything. The guy is skinny as a rail. But you don’t know what he is really eating, number one. Number two, what he does when he leaves work, he may bike a hundred miles, he may mow his lawn and his neighbor’s lawn. To him, eating a sandwich maybe eating tons of food. He may not like chocolates or cakes or cookies or any of that stuff. So you have to take and disseminate information very carefully when it is given to you about weight loss. And you also have to think about, really what you are eating when it comes to losing weight. Are you really being honest with yourself, or with your fitness expert? Love your body.
