Diets and Binge Eating

Beth: Hi I am Ians Beth and I am from Huston. Sometimes when I restrict my diet too much this can cause binge eating. Could this cause problems in the future?

Jill Kindy: Hi Beth, typically we see that a lot with people who restrict with their eating for a while and then our body's natural mechanism when we are in a starvation or a semistarvation state is to want to seek food and so that can lead to overeating. So typically if you can keep within the moderate levels of dieting and not going to any two extremes that's helpful in the long run. The occasional splurge is not going to be a big deal but if it is typically becoming problematic and it's happening over and over again then it might be good to seek the advice of a professional.
