Now that you know how your camera works, you need to know a little bit more about the software that comes with it, that's the movie creator software that you install from the CD-ROM. When you first launch the software, you'll see something that looks like this, if your camera is connected to your computer. If your camera is not connected to your computer, you'll see this error message, just click on OK, there is no need to have the camera connected to the computer while you are working in the movie creator software.
There are certain standard buttons that are always available in the top right corner of your screen, the most important of these is the question mark, which will open the help that's embedded in the software. The arrow that points down will open up the library or the collection of graphic elements that you can work with, to create your movie, that includes both the still images and the video clips that you have downloaded from your camera and the clip pictures and video clips that come with the software.
There are three main screens that you'll work in, when you are in the movie creator software. The first is the Live screen, that's where you will record when you have your camera connected to your computer. The second is the Create screen, that's where you'll do all of your editing, adding titles, special effects and sounds. The third is the Share screen, that's where you'll go when your movie is done and you want to view it, print it or share it via email.
You'll spend most of your time in the create screen, using those buttons on the right to edit your movie and that's what we'll talk about in the next section of the video tutorial.
