Rebecca Brayton: Although most of the population lives on two main islands, this country consists of an abundance of smaller land masses as well. Hi, I’m Rebecca Brayton and welcome to watchmojo.com and today, we’ll be checking out some of the islands that make up New Zealand.
The north island is where more than three quarters of Kiwis call home. The country’s two most important cities, the capital Wellington, as well as the biggest city Auckland, are both found on this island.
The south island is often called the Mainland, despite the fact that only one quarter of the entire country’s population lives there. Stewart Island is committed to the protection of wildlife and about 85% of the island is a national park.
This island is known to the Maoris as Whakaari. White Island is one of New Zealand’s most active volcanic sites. There’s practically no flora on the island. White island is unpopulated but still a famous landmark.
The bay of islands is best discovered via kayak, cruise or yacht. All it takes is a kayak or a cruise ship to explore the wonderful islands that make up New Zealand.
