Do Computer Glare Screens Protect Our Eyes

Erica: Hi, I'm Erica from Wallington, New Jersey. I work at office for all day long on my computer. My office provides computer glasses but I am not a fan of glasses. I was wondering if computer screen filters either same way as protecting my eyes as the computer glasses would be. Muriel Schornack: Erica, that's a great question. Computer use certainly affects a lot of us. Using a glare screen or computer glasses is primarily to increase our comfort when we are using the computer rather than to protect our eyes from anything damaging. Another thing that may make you more comfortable while you are using the computer is what I call my 20, 20, 20 rule. Every 20 minutes look up for 20 seconds at something 20 feet away and keep your focussing system from walking in at that computer distance.
