Do Hair Products Affect Hair Loss

Donna: I am Donna from Largo, Florida and I was just wondering if using hair products like mousse and gel really affect hair loss?

Amy McMichael: Donna, that's a great question. What I like about it is that you are thinking about the health of your hair and that's really what we want to get to. Gels and mousses can cause drying out of the hair shaft. That means that hair is probably not going to come out by the root when you use gels and mousses, but it may break. So, if you see a lot of small hairs on the floor or in your brushing comb when you are styling and managing your hair, that may mean that your hair is too dry to use gels and mousses and you may want to slow down.

You might want to use something other than a gel or maybe just use one product that is a little bit drying and use some moisturizing shampoos and conditioners along with those products.
