Clay: Yes daddy Brad but these scientifical points aren't wrong and technical and wouldn't fit on Twitter. That's why we've asked the author of the Daddy Shift Jeremy Adam Smith also of the Greater Good Institute at Berkeley to summarize for us.
Jeremy Adam Smith: During the past 20 years scientists have made new discoveries about the ways that men's body change when they become fathers. For example, men loose Testosterone and they gain Prolactin which is a hormone associated with breast feeding as well as Cortisol which is a stress hormone that helps new mothers pay attention to a baby's needs. So in many, many ways the bodies of mothers and fathers converge as they become parents.
Brad: Now, I can see how some guys the loss of testosterone may be not such a good thing.
Clay: Well, no I get it it's because you know pregnancy is potentially it's already something that's unknown, might be a little bit uncomfortable and the next thing you know they tell you your balls are falling off.
Brad: But the most guys shouldn't be that scary. The good thing is about to make sense less hunting, more nurturing.
Clay: Yes, and really who needs a thicker brow and more hair on your back? Not me certainly. Plenty loaded for bear so to speak. Now, maybe if you're -- the thing is interesting about this whole study is that it's almost like your own body is guiding you to be more nurturing. It's like evolution is telling you, it's time to be less aggressive and more caring.
Brad: So in a way by taking care of our pregnant wives and taking care of babies we're doing what nature intended us to do.
Clay: Exactly.
