Well, this is my own dog Beyorn and that he is here in my veterinary hospital and I actually recently had to do a surgery on Beyorn myself. He got a ACL on his knee and this only about three weeks ago. He is a little bit nervous right now because he remembers that surgery and he probably does not want to be here. So, I was pretty shocked about two weeks ago when I found out that he had a little problem on the inside of his mouth. I was giving him his medication after his operation and I would actually realized that he got a small lesion on the inside of his cheek and it looks ulcerated and it is a bit ugly looking. We may not be able to see it with him awake, but I can show you if you want to come over here to see it. It is right inside this cheek, you see that little light spot, that is what it is. Now, what I am really really hoping and praying is that, he is a little bit nervous and I am really hoping that he is actually has been chewing on his lip. You know people do that sometimes out of anxiety and I really hope that my dog has that problem because I really do not want it to be -- I am a little bit-- by that it is, that it may be a cancer involving the lining of his oral mucosa, possibly fibrosarcoma or squamous cell carcinomas so I am really worried about. So, I just cannot believe that I have been working on this cancer project for dogs and their owners and now I am about three quarters of the way done with the book and I am finding this lesion in my own dog and it is a little bit hard to take and the irony is a little bit much, but I just hope that it turns out to be benign. So, I got to charge for it. I did not have no choice.
So, he has already had blood work done. Actually, just to more in to make sure he is all safe. He is going to be lightly anesthetized today. I am going to give him a little injection of his sedative right now, just going to help with his pain and then in about half an hour, we are going to go ahead with the procedure and what we are going to be doing is taking a small piece of tissue actually from the lesion and we are going to be submitting it to a pathologist that I can get a biopsy report that will usually be back within 10 days or weeks if I am lucky. The pathologist or the folks, who sit in front of microscopes and look at these things all day and they are going to be the best ones to tell me whether or not that is a cancer. So, I am waiting anxiously, but first for the procedure.
I am going ahead and get him a little injection of oxymorphone here. This is just a subcutaneous injection right here. Give him a little shake and we are all done. So, it looks like he did not really feel that very much and I was destructing him a little bit. So, hopefully he will be okay. And that is it, so we will be ready in about half an hour.
