Welcome to EverythingTech.TV Tutorials. I am your host Jason Tucker. Today I am going to show you how to drag and drop items within Outlook into various sections within Outlook. For instance, say like you wanted to take this information in this particular email and make it a note. What you could do is look at one of your emails and drags it and drops it into notes. What happens is it shows up as a note.
All of the text, all of the information that was listed in the note excluding the attachments, it will actually show all the text in wrap format. If there is any HTML within the text, it would not actually render the HTML just strip out everything and display like URLs that type of thing. Now, say like for instance if you wanted to set this as a task, say like project manager or something like that sent you an email and they and said “Hey, you know, you do the work on this.”
Well, what you can do is you could use this particular email as the base for that task. You could drag it there to task and have it come up as a task. It shows all the information within the email and you set the task just like you would when you normally set up a task. You can assign to someone, it just depends on your environment. Now, you could also drag this into calendar and be able to set a calendar and set scheduling for that particular item. Another cool thing that you can do with dragging is you could also drag this particular thing into contacts. And then contacts, what it would do is it would actually put in a sample email as well as the email address where it is sent from, the person’s full name and set up the basis for a contact.
So, that is a pretty cool way of setting up contacts too. Anyhow, I wanted to show this to you, a friend of mine Steve is asking me a question regarding on how to assign an email to a particular task within the calendar and we just showed him how to drag and drop into calendar and to set up an assignment task. Anyhow, this is Jason Tucker for EverythingTech.tv. I hope this all worked out for you and hopefully you also find interest in this. Thank you.
