Welcome to Common Man Cocktails, I’m your host Derrick Schommer and today were going to do another user generated, why do I always say user generate, user submitted recipe. This one is for the Dreamsicle Martini or the Creamsicle. It’s that ice cream popsicle thing its orange it’s got the cream inside, it’s really tasty I like to try and bite and leave the cream on the edges and kind of eat around it, do you ever do that.
You like Creamsicles? All right everybody a good creamsicle, so this is going to be closest thing and I’m going to do something we’ve never done before were using a scoop of ice cream. This is a vanilla ice cream so pick, that I think this is a vanilla bean smooth churned, so it’s got less fats and calories that’s how I roll.
Were going to use little orange juice, there is you’re orange part of the creamsicle, dreamsicle. This is a little triple sec to give us our citrus boost, were going to go back this is the second time this week we’ve used this. This is the hamoni smooth shoju. Yes that’s it kind of like a neutral based, neutral grain spirit like our frantido here are sponsor Tito’s Vodka except for its got, this is what 40 proof, 80 proof. This is 44 proof I believe, yeah, so you're going to have less alcohol so it’s going to be more smooth because you don’t have – this guys worked really hard to get rid of the aggressiveness of the alcohol surrounded out this is less alcohols. It’s got a – it’s a different flavor I don’t know that, you read the review on EverydayDrinkers.com.
This one is our lemon version, citrus version so were going to use that for this recipe. And were going to put all of that into a little bowl glass, which that what the recipe calls for you can use a martini glass depending on how fancy you want to get. It’s really up to you, you can use any old glass if you want to. This also says were going to use the ice cream instead of ice. I did this ahead of time to just make it tasted like the way I want it to taste.
And I found that I didn’t have enough coldness to it, it doesn’t, ice cream and by itself when mixed with everything it just looses some of the coldness. So I’m going to put some ice in there as well, this will break up and we’ll still get the effects we need but it will be a little chill. A little more chill, so we’ll just drop in our scoop of little ice cream. You can also do this I would guess with a little vanilla extract and a little heavy cream, you probably could do the same thing but I mean ice cream is one of my favorites.
Throw some ice in there. The ice will help break it up too so you’ll end up with something, it’ll start to round out and to cream as we start pouring the warmer ingredients on it. so were going to do a half ounce of triple sec just a little bit, were also only going to do a half ounce of vodka. In this case since were not using vodka were going to have a half ounce of the Soho, were not looking too much alcohol here were going for the effect, the creamsicle. If you do it right and you're making this for guest they're going to want seconds and thirds so you might want to keep the alcohol content down anyway thus allowing you to have more of this cool little drinks.
Were going to and ounce of OJ a little leftovers in here, this is a freshly squeeze orange juice because I ran out of the artificial stuff, bottled, artificial I guess it’s still real it’s a 100% orange juice just in the bottle. But fresh you get a little thicker consistency, a little juicier, I don’t know I just like fresh batter, it’s just a pain in the neck. Because they’re big and they don’t squeeze as easy unless you have orange squeezer.
I should probably get one of those, I’ll shake the drink. Wow, that was aggressive, I’m going to shake this really aggressive because I want to breakup that that cream from the ice cream.
[Demonstration]
There I think you get some tendentious so I did it right and you can see that the cream is coated the glass nicely. Which means were probably going to get just the consistency we want which is the consistency of awesome. Let’s do a little ice for our little bowl, just a pair, so maybe two toss another one in there. What the heck right?
There you go, o you can expect it to be fairly thick it’s going to be you use heavy cream. But it does it smells like vanilla, it smells exactly like what you get inside of the dreamsicles itself.
Creamsicle, dreamsicle I don’t know what the difference is, they have both. Wow, that’s it right there, changes it up a little bit by adding the ice and this gets rid off – if you can find any soho especially this one its so smooth. There’s no alcohol taste at all, you try it, you can reach over, people will see you hand it’s okay. But you got to try it, does that taste like a creamsicle. Just like it, just like it folks that is awesome. This is not enough you need four scoops of ice cream a gallon of this stuff here to really make just a whole punch bowl worth of this stuff. Because it’s that good just drink it all then you can make some more for your friends.
Great thick consistency too, I’m enjoying this just like it, unbelievable. Check out our sponsor Tito’s Handmade American Vodka, if you don’t have any lemon, citrus vodka’s Tito’s I don’t think has a citrus vodka they go for clarity consistency and profession. So if you don’t have any of that, this will work I would go with something maybe like the Tito’s because it’s going to be smooth very clean crisp after taste so your not going to get that the alcoholic explosion in your mouth, it’s kind of a very clean finish as I call it. it is around here in the haunches $18 or $17.99 it seems to be going up as I think liqueur stores realized they can make more off of us.
Because it’s so good and it’s so low value that it is in higher demand. You got to check it out Tito’s Handmade American Vodka made in Texas. So if you’re in Texas you could probably even see them from your house. I’m not really sure if that’s true.
