I am Steve Turano. Welcome to this episode of Body Performance. In this episode, I’m going to cause more habit with all your health food expert guru nuts. Here it is. Drinking water doesn’t help you loose weight. The only way drinking water is going to help you lose weight is that you spend your day in the bathroom peeing instead of in the kitchen eating. Now, here is the physiology behind it. Supposedly, when you don’t drink a lot of water your kidneys don’t function very well. Therefore, the liver has to stop many of its functions and one of them being metabolizing fats and it has to take over some of the functions of the kidneys. So if you drink a lot of liquids more accurately throughout the day. Your kidney is free to do its job and the liver is free to do its job. Now in this day and age, I don’t know of one person in America who is not hydrating themselves well enough. Everybody is waling around with a bottle of water and even if you are not drinking water but if you are drinking colas, teas, juices, coffees, all these things have water in them which are fluids which will be hydrated. Yes, some of them have calories but you are not walking around un-hydrated. This is not a major problem in the United States. It is a good thing to be hydrated prior to working out because when you perspire where does all that liquid come from? It comes from your blood stream. And what happens when all that liquid comes out of your blood steam? Your blood kind of gets a little sludgy or thick for lack of better term and you kind of feel dizzy because the oxygen is not being delivered to your body. So it is good to hydrate before you workout and you are going to sweat excessively but believe me, it is not going to affect your weight loss one day. The most important thing that is going to affect your weight loss is how much you eat and what you do. Love your body.
