Hi, I’m Jared Falk and welcome to the Theory and Notation section of freedrumlessons.com. Having the ability to understand drum theory and notation is a valuable asset to anyone serious about playing the drums. When playing in a band, it is our job as drummers to hold steady time. So mastering the ability to count a wide variety of note grouping and time signatures will benefit you greatly as you learn to play the drums. Put that together with an understanding of how to re-cheat music notation and you’ll dramatically improve the way you learn new beats, fills, and related patterns. Whether you’re brand new to drumming or you’re already playing and just wanna brush up on your knowledge, the video lessons in this Theory and Notation section will give you a solid foundation to build upon. Some of the information may seem a little complicated at first but you can feel free to re-watch any of the lessons until it all makes sense to you.
