to the one who says the $$ should be shared.. here's a quote "Each floor will rotate a maximum of one full rotation in 90 minutes. The entire tower will be powered from turbines and solar panels, and five other buildings in the vicinity will also be provided with electricity. The turbines will be located between each of the rotating floors. They will generate 1,200,000 kilowatt-hours of energy from the movement of the floors, and the solar panels will be located on the roof. " apparently 5 other buildings are going to benefit from this one ... that sounds pretty fckn like SHARING to me!

I travel to Dubai frequently. This is only ONE of the amazing, innovative designs they are building. The Palm Islands are reality, the world's tallest bld, the Burj Dubai is nearly complete- and the underwater hotel is being built. Impossible? Nah- and by the way, it ISNT "oil money" folks. It's tourism dollars. Dubai isnt oil rich- its neighbor, Abu Dhabi is. The UAE is a very progressive, western friendly, positive urban attempt for a "new" kind of city. I wish 'em luck- for if they achieve all they dare to dream (why dont we dream like this in the US anymore??), they deserve to try.

THE BIGGER THEY ARE, THE HARDER THEY FALL. SUCH OPULENCE IS BUILT WITH THE BLOOD OF THE COMMON MAN AND OF THE EARTH. WITH THE WORLD AS INSANE AS IT IS, THEIR DAY WILL COME. SUCH WEALTH SHOULD BE SHARED FOR THE COMMON GOOD...SADLY, IT IS NOT.

Wow - imagine what fun could be had with this concept if the evil guy in a James Bond movie had a building like this. Hello, Hollywood? Or maybe Pinewood Sudios in London? Should be quite feasible with the computer technology in movie making..... I agree that the 3D demo actually making it into an actual building would likeliest be the result of someone with more money than sense, but maybe it really IS the future, maybe the not too distant future! The movie idea is more fun to play with... the building turns into a huge rotating drill and shoots through a layer just below the earth's surface, only to re-emerge in various places in the world to terrorize other poor stationary buildings. Hahaaaaa! What fun!
