Dynamic Drumming Groove | Drum Lessons

Hi, my name is Jared Falk and I’d like to welcome you to the Dynamic Drumming section of freedrumlessons.com. Here, you’ll find a series of lessons that teach you how to improve the dynamics and groove as you drum it. Now, you maybe wondering, what is groove? That’s a question I get asked countless times by many in my drumming students. The problem is there really is no easy answer. I heard so many explanations from other drummers and the one common theme seems to be that groove is when you’re playing musically. In other words, you aren’t just playing the beat as written but really feeling the beat and playing each stroke just at the right time with just the right dynamic volume. This really only comes with experience. It is extremely rare to see a new drummer of one or two years playing with really solid groove. It just takes time and practice as it is more than art than a science. Now, there are things you can do to speed up your progress, and that’s the point of the lessons in this Dynamic Drumming section. You see, each of the lessons here show you a different way that you can play individual parts of the beat to alter the dynamics and fill. I highly recommend that you work through each of these lessons one at a time, practicing the material from each lesson carefully before moving on. If you do this, overtime you’ll begin to understand how every beat can literally be played at hundreds if not, thousands of different ways. Are you up for the challenge?
