Molly: My name is Molly and I am one of the co owners of Nochi and it is a really pretty, pretty shop on Main Street Vineyard Haven on Martha’s Vineyard.
Sophia: I am Sofya Nadelstein and I am Molly’s partner in the store. Molly takes care of antiques and linens and I take care of fresh flowers and parties.
I am Sofya Nadelstein and we are going to talk about an early American themed bedroom.
Those early Americans, they were not into luxury or comfort per se. So, the bedroom will probably look a little more austere than what we are used to nowadays. But the good thing about austere, is that, it is easy to keep clean and neat.
I would probably pick out dark wood simple pieces that have simple lines. And a fun thing to do would maybe to take pictures of some members of your family and make silhouettes and have them framed and put on the wall. This would be a good place to maybe collect flags and put them in a nice old picture.
A copy of an old map of the USA framed on the wall would be good as well. The walls would probably be just dark and white offset by dark furniture. And if you are going to do linens, my choice would probably be dark navy maybe with some stripes, but keep it quite simple and early American
