Hi. I’m Bob Schmidt with Home Remodel Workshop. Sometimes, even the most basic of building products such as this electrical box have features available on them nowadays where it can keep you flexible with the way you use it in the future and it could save you some headaches. As I come across them in my travels in my work, I’m going to go ahead and show them to you. Let’s get to work.
One of the neat features I found about this electrical box were these little hooks on the side. It’s real easy once you’ve decided where you want these to go, just simply put it on an angle, press it back and it holds itself while you go ahead and you take your screws and run them into these predrilled opening to anchor this box down nice and solid for drywall. But that’s not the only feature with this electrical box. The truly neat feature about this electrical box is this metal adjustment screw right here. This box can stay as is. You can put your plate and cover on it and would be great in a drywall. But let’s say in the future, you say, “Well you know, now we got a little extra money in the budget, we want to put that tile back and splash up.” So, you go ahead and you put your tile up on the wall there. Now all of the sudden, the box doesn’t fit as well. Simply back that adjustment screw out and you got a perfect surface to bring your tile up so that your box and everything is flushed and it mounts in there nice and tight.
Now let’s say she decides, “Well you know what, I really don’t want the tile back splashed, I’d much rather have a wood back splash.” Of course, that’s going to come in a three quarter inch thickness. Again, now you’re a little deep. The neat thing about this box is that you adjust up to an inch and a half. So now, you’re also good with that. Now let’s say that you decide that you’re going to put a cabinet over the top of this box, but the cabinet has to stand off the wall even a little bit more than this is the inside finish of the back of the cabinet. Again, simply back your box out until it flushes up with the inside of your cabinet, put your cover on, you got a nice solid base for putting in your plug.
So there you go. Now as you see, even some of the most basic of building products, they’re coming out with new features which make things much more versatile to use now and in the future. As I come across these products in my work, I’ll go ahead and I’ll grab up on them and I’ll show them to you.
