Introduction to FileZilla FTP client -

Your Internet service provider (ISP) probably offers you a bit of space on the web for your own personal web site. Perhaps you already have your web site created and sitting on your computer. how do you transfer the files to your web space though? FTP or File Transfer Protocol is the answer and FileZilla is arguable the best free FTP client for the job. FTP is also useful for sharing files between remote computers and a host of other file transfer jobs.

Hi, this is Mike Callahan, Dr. File Finder and welcome to part one of our special butterscotch.com five part series on FileZilla. Now in this segment, I’m just going to give you a brief overview, FileZilla is a free FTP client that’s available for Mac, Windows and Linux systems. So it covers just about everybody and see here, I’m connected to my website and the display on files is slightly different from some FTP clients. Over here, it’s showing me the root directory of my local site. If I click on a sub folder down here, I see the parts of it up in here. Over here, I’m in my web server. FileZilla is very efficient and has some nice features and to top it off, it’s free. So in the file loading segments, I’m going to be looking at connections, transfers, online file editing and some of the extras that come in FileZilla. So I’m excited about this five part series, I hope you are too, and that concludes part one.
