Are you one of the many that love having a lush green lawn? We certainly do. But there are number of things that we do, to reduce our Eco-Footprint and tread lightly on our planet. Did you know that gas powered lawn equipment, accounts for 5% of all of America's Green House Gas emissions? There are a number of ways for you to lighten your load by making a few small changes.
Start off by switching your gas powered mower to an electric one. This mower is only going to cost you about $5 a year to operate, and it's easier to start. Plus it creates significantly less air pollution. A typical gas powered mower running for one hour creates the same amount of pollution as 11 cars. A riding lawn mower creates as much pollution as 34 cars.
Electric powered lawn equipment is often lighter and not as noisy as their gas powered cousins, plus you will never have to change the oil or refill the gas tank. And all of that gasoline adds up, it's estimated that 600 million gallons of gas is used every year in this country just to run our gas powered lawn equipment. And if you want to go even greener, opt for human powered lawn equipment like a broom, rake, trimmer. And if you have a small yard, consider a hand pushed real lawn mower, then your green house gas emissions will be reduced to zero, and you'll be burning more calorie. So do your part in the yard to create less pollution by using electric or human powered lawn equipment.
