Eco Shield iPhone Covers
Mike Agerbo: So ones you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard of the iPod and the iPhone. Well, you might not have heard of the iPod economy. And literally, this is a whole economy that is based around iPhones and iPod and it's literally in the billions of dollars. And I'm talking about accessories, you know, speakers and of docking stations and cases and you know—
AJ Vickery: Hard chargers and headsets.
Mike Agerbo: We’ll just going to have a quick look at some cases. This is the latest from Agent 18 to make a number of different types of cases and accessories for the iPhone and the iPod but this is their slim Eco Shield for the iPhone 3G.
AJ Vickery: Yeah.
Mike Agerbo: I've always been looking you know for a really thin case. I don’t like all this big bulky things because I like to put it in my pocket. So one thing I did appreciate about this particular snap on case is that you can see it form fits the iPhone really nicely and really easy to get in and out of the pocket as well.
AJ Vickery: Right.
Mike Agerbo: So the slickness which is the one great thing for getting it in the pocket because it just kind of slides right in.
AJ Vickery: Yeah.
Mike Agerbo: Makes me a little worried sometimes because it is really kind of slippery.
AJ Vickery: Slippery.
Mike Agerbo: So I am worried about this thing sliding right off.
AJ Vickery: Yeah.
Mike Agerbo: Sliding off and going for a little fall.
AJ Vickery: I can see they put a little rubber stopper on there and it was probably for that exact same reason and that was probably in after thought.
Mike Agerbo: My rubber stopper fell off. But the nice thing is they do include some extra ones.
AJ Vickery: Oh! Is that right?
Mike Agerbo: I just got to go put the other one on.
AJ Vickery: That’s too funny. So I wonder if that was even an after thought just because it does give it that grip but you know we've slip this thing around a little bit and does slide off.
And I like the sort of marketing that they’ve used on the back here of you take a look there. We throw garbage away GE walls it down and add some chemicals to it and sell it and this guys reuse it to make this iPhone covers.
Mike Agerbo: The only challenge I have with lot of this eco friendly kind of product, with this green products is.
AJ Vickery: Yeah.
Mike Agerbo: You know, is there a standard for it, like what really makes it eco friendly other than the fact that it's using recycled water bottles? Like what chemicals is GE putting in here too, to make this?
AJ Vickery: Yeah, and that I think, that’s where the whole green washing thing has come up and there’s a lot of companies have been criticized for trying to you know use this green things.
But you know back to the cover, I think it was really smart to have it be put together with this two piece feature because earlier version from this company had a one piece that you slid in and it was really difficult to get the phone out of it.
Mike Agerbo: So you basically just snap it on.
AJ Vickery: Snap it and clicks on.
Mike Agerbo: And that’s easy, so you still have access to you know like the camera and all the controls and things like that.
AJ Vickery: Yeah.
Mike Agerbo: And it comes with a little dock adopter as well so you can stick this in like the docking stations. Having that little extra bit on sometimes it won't fit in the docking station but that extra little piece will like, will do that.
AJ Vickery: You know I was pretty critical when I saw this thing snap together how easy it was, I figured that it would basically unsnap pretty fast. But you’ve been using it for— why do I get the pink one by the way?
Mike Agerbo: I don’t know. You tell me.
AJ Vickery: Exactly. But you’ve been using it for week now and you're saying that it actually hold on to it.
Mike Agerbo: Yeah. So unsnap it you just stick a coin in or if you’ve got your finger nail long enough here, you can actually unsnap it on the side and you're good to go. You can
AJ Vickery: But this stays on the right?
Mike Agerbo: It stays on perfectly.
AJ Vickery: Yeah.
Mike Agerbo: So you know the only thing that I would bring up is what eco friendly mean, I applaud them for using the recycled water bottles. But believe me, if this thing goes in a landfill, it's not biodegrading.
AJ Vickery: It's not going anywhere any time soon.
Mike Agerbo: Any time soon.
AJ Vickery: Yeah.
Mike Agerbo: So it's from Agent 18, their slim Eco Shield. If you want to be I guess a little greeny use recycled products something to look for in an iPhone case.
