Male Speaker: Always keep hands, fingers, long hair, clothing away from belts and moving pulley wheels, as they can cause severe bodily harm. Read and follow all manufacture warning labels and refer to the owner's manual.
We're going to show you how to inspect an engine, but first we have a safety demonstration on how dangerous running engines can be. What you're going to see is quite graphic. So we've added a little bit of humor, just to lighten up a little bit and make it fun.
We're going to demonstrate to you the dangers of a hot engine. Death Wish Debbie thinks her engine is overheating and she has decided to pull off the radiator cap and look inside to check the coolant level. She is unaware of the unforeseen dangers that await her. Do not try this at home.
Never touch a hot engine exhaust or open a radiator cap. Keep your hands, fingers clothing and hair away from the radiator fans, as they can start up at any moment even when the engine is off.
Ladies and Gentlemen today we're here with Death Wish Debbie. How are you Debbie?
Debbie: I'm fine.
Male Speaker: Well you won't be soon. We're going to show you the dangers of having your loose hair or loose clothing caught in a moving engine. What we're going to do is simulate Debbie tinkering with the engine, plus I'm going to be inadvertently starting it without checking for her of course.
Now imagine if the engine was running, it would actually be a lot more ferocious than what we're going to see here. This engine can propel this vehicle at 80miles/hour down a free way, towing a trailer, imagine what it can do to 100, 200 pound person. Let's find out, don't try this at home.
As you can see a moving engine can be very-very dangerous. Please be careful when you're inspecting a car, getting her out is going to be a lot easier than getting you out.
We hope you saw the value and learnt how dangerous engines can be from Death Wish Debbie's demise.
We're now going to see you how to safely inspect an engine.
