English lesson- do/make?

Hi, and welcome to the premiere edition of Five Minute English for learning English only takes five minutes. In today’s lesson we are going to talk about the difference between do and make. I am sure you have heard your teacher say “Do your homework” or your parents say “Make your bed”. These are just some of the everyday uses of these common verbs. First, let us start with “do”. Everyone has used it in its most common form, to ask questions. Is this supposed to go to the seminar? Did you see the J-Lo concert last night? Does everyone understand what I am saying? Also for commands – Don’t play near the street. Don’t you eat that ice cream Billy. Don’t talk so loud, be quiet. One of the general difference is “Do” is used for actions that are not defined. I am ready to learn nothing. What should I do with this? Just do it or else. Here are some other fixed expressions if you are around in the house. Do your makeup, do the dishes. And in office, we do business in China and other Asian counties. Jun is not perfect but he does his best. And your boss’s favorite – Do your work. On the other hand, make is used to fabricate or construct something physically. She made this table from wood. This shirt is made in Italy. Did you make this in our class, it is fantastic. There are expressions for “Make” at home too. Make the beds. Make a phone call. Stop making so much noise. Make love, not war. Especially in business, you make mistakes, you make excuses and you make money. Those are the general rules for do and make. I hope you had fun and you learned something.
