This is National Home Furnishing’s Month and I’m here at the World Market Center in Las Vegas where we’re seeing three major trends, smaller, smarter and greener. We’re also seeing reclaimed woods, rough natural textures, bamboo and distressed finishes. They’re all in. And also smart timeless classic pieces that don’t need to match, dashes of metallic, gold, silver and bronze and accessories and a color palate from neutral to natural, definitely bringing the outdoor in. We’re definitely seeing going green is big and saving energy and conserving water is keys. So look at this new steam dishwasher by LG for example. It saves more than 500 galloons of water per year. It automatically cuts down on the amount and temperature of water used and it’s energy start waited and let add steam to any cycle including one that protects delicate steamer and you can do a half a load or a full load. So, you’ve got lot of choices and it’s really quite as well.
Downsizing, another very big trend in deed, in fact the senses bureau is reporting that new homes are in fact 200 square feet smaller. By guess what, you don’t have to give up big comfort or upscale features. For example, this GE profile, single double of in fits in the same space as a standard free standing range of wall oven and the two ovens can operate at two different temperatures up to 450 degrees. That’s twice as much cooking for the same amount of space.
Now, over 20 million are working from home, the trend is definitely to downsize. You don’t even need a separate bedroom anymore because laptops rules as to smaller desk. And even air purifiers are getting smaller. For example, this Compact pro-seal plus from ORIC fits on a desk, captures pet, 98% of bacteria and kills the flu virus using electrostic and UV technology and it removes odor. So while moms may prefer to work at home to be near their kids, others may decide that it’s also better for their health.
And finally, here’s a sneak peak at the winters of one glue chair competition. These are original chairs created by young designers throughout the world using local indigenous materials, so good design, good for the environment.
