Alright in this Gear Review you’re going to be taking a look at the Epiphone les Paul
Standard plus long Quid were kind enough to let me pick up some guitars yesterday to do
some reviews on it and this is one of them. It’s called a plus because it has a flamed top
on it. It’s a veneer flame still it looks a bit nicer than just flame top. Anyway this guitar
has a mahogany body and neck Roslyn fret boards. It’s maple top but it’s a plain maple
top with like we said the maple veneer overlay and it comes in bunch of colors this is the
heritage charity first comes in vintage sunburst black caramel and thicket blue as well.
Anyway two bridge pickups two humbuckers 3-way toggle switch two volumes two tone
knobs and that’s really cool on the last fall, I mean every last fall just about comes like
that but it’s really nice if you can blend between the pickups like say have the bridge
pickups selected have full control of the volume and tone. I put it in the middle. I can
blend the volume of each pickup and tone of each pickups to get some really cool sense.
Now as far as some pro’s and cons for this particular guitar it’s a less pol it looks really
cool.
It has a really thick medium tone that you know that’s what you think off when you think
about a less part right. Some of the cons for this guitar I think this is a con but it’s there
549. That’s a pretty good price guitar I think but some for cons is you have to watch out
on Epiphones for the switches and make sure to pick up so when you can get them from
store. I have come across a lot of these guitars that right out of the box. There’s
something not quite right with them and that’s going to be in the review on the website
you know when you read about it but just to prove my point check this out.
Okay I got this guitar yesterday…
[Demonstration] Sounds really cool, sounds good. The switch is jacked on it. Gray
guitars I think epiphone needs to step up the quality control on there like electronics
though because that thing is quite a bit the music store you still work. The other thing
about these guitars is if you’re going to bind one make sure that you check that the head
stock right here for cracks because I mean they come from overseas obviously but I have
seen quite a few of these guitars right on the boxes with cracked head stocks so be careful
about that.
Now I would go through with this guitar and show you all the sounds you can get out of
it but unfortunately only one pick up works on it or the slightest switch only allows one
pick up to work so I’ll just show you that one.
[Demonstration]
And that’s just the bridge pick up with a lot of distortion on and here it is no distortion.
[Demonstration]
One other cool thing that I didn’t realize until before this video started was that this guitar
has Grover tuners on it. Those are pretty good tuners and usually you don’t see those on
mid to lower end guitars but this one actually has some pretty good tuners on it that really
help your tuning problems if you have any and keep your guitar in tune so check out the
last call standard plus— and sounds really thick. If you’re looking for a guitar that’s
brighter like strat not the if you’re really looking for at thick guitar that’s good for
anything from Jazz to metal this is a really cool guitar for you.
