Gary Leland: Hello. Gary Leland, here with FastPitch TV. And I’m here today to talk to you about weighted softballs. Weighted softballs are great training aid; I use them for years with my daughter. Now my hands have the 4, 5, and 6 ounce balls make we think question I could ask the most is how much does this softball weight natural and artificial game softball always 6.8 ounces. So, now we have the starting point of 6.8 ounces and as I said earlier this is the 4, 5, and 6 ounce softballs. These are really are made for pictures. That we only think that for throwing a lighter softball is also workout to pair to throwing a heavier one. So, these are difference of four ounce softballs much harder you get the speed on then these regulations 6.8.
So that’s for the 4, 5, and 6 ounce softballs are fore. Therefore pictures, and that’s the weighted softballs. The lighter then regular softballs, now we also have to 12 ounce, the 11 ounce, the 10 ounce, then 9 ounce, then 8 ounce, then 7 ounce, you get it okay I’m not going to bring them all in the bucket here now we were talking about this and then when my daughter was young. I shop for ever trying to find a softball my daughter was not as strong as the throw at 11 years old. So, I wanted to get weighted softballs because someone had told me that would help train her on to make stronger. I shop everywhere for a softball, my causal way of things, if I had a special order, one somewhat we like $30 for and some 14 years they are come worst. Well now there is a whole selection of sizes of softballs. And we bought the 12 ounce softball which is a fine size some people who buy the 9, 10, 11, and 12 because that comes in the set of 4.
Well when we done and in my personal experiences what we did. We start with 12 ounces softball and then when we take it everyday and I mean everyday and we work side as we started may be at the distance of about 20 feet started throwing at the regular softball 50 times, throw in this softball 50 times and then throwing regular softball again 50 times. You mean worked away to a hundred and hereafter few weeks we’re going to hundred and hundred with this. Then we increased the distance in the first base and we will throw regular soft ball back and forth 100 times in the weighted softball back in forth the 100 times. This has been over for year may be 2 years then we find yes that we are doing the distance from first base a home base to the second base.
100 times we start up that we move there we started up 50 times and worked away to the 100. We did everyday starting up basically we’re starting up slowly, with the distance ensure work away to 100 move the distance from home the first place start with the show them that the pictures to get those again 50 work away to 100 then move from home based to second.
Start with 50 worked away to 100 and we threw all the time now I’m just saying my daughter had the strongest arm in the world are done, and I’m tell you what she could throw a ball as expert on target it’s a kind like a thing if you win to seen in a game they will have sometime the thing what you throw as a radar gun, who is passes she was always up in the top 3 or 4. so, it definitely helped to improve her arm to thing be careful what I believe is you don’t want get out the there and strong with this ball and take the strike the second base in your home is of 200 times start of slow though that the arm per your heard and if you cannot afford heard arm it’s hard to come back and yourself light set this is the softball you may want to start with 12 and worked away up you may want to start with the like the 9 or the 10 and that way you can go right from home the second base and then come back and get 11 as were lot of people use the 9, 10 and 11 in 12 set, the set of 4.
Start with the 9 work out with the little couple months we have the 10 we have got the little couple months so on so on you get till 12, and you can find them at weightedballs.com. Thanks for listening to another episode FastPitch TV.
