Audra: Carol Brodie is a jewelry genius of sort. She’s got an amazing line of jewelry on HSN and also work for Harry Winston for years dressing all the celebs and jewels for their big red carpet moments. Our trend and lifestyle expert Jenn Falik is with her at Bendel’s to talk about the bubbles that every woman must have. Jen: I'm here at the Fredrick—saloon with Carol Brodie. Carol is the creator of Rarities, fine jewelry collection on HSN. Every single time I see Carol she is amazingly accessorize. So she’s going to give me the scoop on the must have accessories that every women needs to own and how to wear them. Hello. Carol: Hello, Ms. Jen, how are you? Jen: I am good, so talk to me about jewelry here. What are the three pieces that every women needs to own? Carol: Okay. We’re going to start with a big ball cocktail ring. I want to see women wearing color. I want them to embrace color this season. We have fabulous color nail polishes this season. Colorful big bold rings. If you're a little shy, I make stocking rings. So if you're not comfortable wearing one big ring, you can start out with smaller one and then when you get a little bit more confident with your style, you can just layer them together. Jen: So pretty. Next, earrings, what are the earrings that we need to ask? Carol: Okay. I call this earring the sun goddess earring. It is the eternal bronzer, even in the middle of winter when you're like white and you are a little pasty, this is the best, best, best, best look. You’ve got an oval disk of 10 carat gold, this one has—. When you hold this up to your ear it automatically look like the best bronzer in the world. Jen: Nice. Carol: And of course, we really, really need to include a layering piece, a necklace. So what I love to do is—this is blackened rhodium plated silver. And when you're layering, it’s really, really important to make the things—everything has to have a different length, by the way, to they’re tangled together. Actually, I’d love to try this on you. Can I do that? Jen: Let’s do it, okay. Carol: We’ve got 72 inches of magnificent blackened rhodium and gorgeous, gorgeous crystal. Jen: And so, this is like a little black dress of jewelry, right? Carol: This is—would have embraced this. This is the little black dress designed jewelry. So what I am going to do with you is, because you’re not wearing a short necklace, I'm going to pull this tight, because I really love the way something looks when it’s up close to the neck. And then we’re going to add on this piece. Now what you see here is you're wearing all different color metals, the little black dress of fine jewelry takes yellow and white and perfectly blends it so that you never have to worry, “Oh my god can I wear it?” And now, we’re going to give it one more twist because it’s a little long for you and we have the look of four chains with two necklaces and this is the ultimate look for layering. It’s a—a fine jewelry and I love it. Jen: And they say the big necklace is so in, but I feel that this gives you a lot of different options, right? Because you can wear this in a million different ways, it’s not one big statement piece. Carol: Absolutely. And jewelry like everything else in my—it’s about options. Jen: And speaking of options when you're traveling, you’re always on the road I know. What do you bring with you or how do you even bring your jewelry with you on the road and not ruin at all. Carol: Okay. It is so hard to travel with jewelry because when you put it together, it can all scratch. So what I love to do is, this is a Sondra Roberts jewelry case— Jen: It looks like a purse. Carol: It looks like a little purse—okay, everything gets pack in a little bag individually, we pack it up and it’s ready to go— Jen: Perfect. Well, I learned a lot thank you so much.
