Escape The Grapevine Hold

By: AkumAPRIME The Grape Vine hold, first appeared in "The American Boy's Handy Book", which was a sort of boyscout manual published in back in1890. Fairbairn writes about the hold: "Normally, the average man placed in this position would get cramp in one or both legs within ten to fifteen minutes, when it is not at all unlikely that he would throw himself backwards. This would kill him. Caution. - To release your prisoner: Two persons are necessary, one on either side. Take hold of his legs and lift him up the tree; then unlock his legs." In January 2007, Sam Noyoun popularized the technique with his video "Lock someone to a tree...". The grape vine is now fast becoming an internet cult phenomenon.

Okay, the head turns, two hands working together; pull back, strike, and away.

The arm coming around the back, remember your side of the attacker’s head with the strikes hit, just doing what you have got to do to get away. Okay, once more; okay.

And that's how to deal with or escape from the grapevine or schoolyard headlock.
