Hi, this is Kurt from TechNewsMadeSimple wishing everyone a Happy Holiday and a Happy New Year. This will be our last host/video of the year and hopefully next year we’ll have a new look and a new forms for you to post your questions and ask to post all the answers for you.
So today, I want to talk about three in my opinion, three essential gadgets for travel. As you may have known, I was away over the past week for the beginning of December and I took along three gadgets which I thought were pretty much necessary for my trip and so the first one that I have here is a surge protector. This is a built in three outlet search connector but the best part of it is that it also has two USB ports built into it. You can charge that iPod or your iPhone while freeing up your computer in three different outlets.
The second gift or gadget that I have is a pocket travel mouse made by Logitech. We’re going to a little bit more detail with this in just a second and the third is the digital camera, Panasonic Lumix and we’re going to a little bit detail about this in just a bit.
Okay so today, I want to talk about the first gadget. The built-in surge protector and the best part about the surge protector like I said before not only do you have two USB ports, and move all the way here but you also have three outlets. You protect your gadgets and this is a little—electrical outlet, actually rotates so you can accommodate any outlet that you need. You can find this online. I think it’s about $20.00 and I will double check the price and I will post it as a comment on the video.
And let’s move onto the second gadget, the Logitech mouse. Now, this is a really small mouse. I fairly big hand so my fingers are little hang over it but you have five buttons, you have a four and back for scrolling for internet, you have your left click, your right click, the other middle wheel and actually this wheel is one of those non-stop wheels where you can keep scrolling or you have the option of clicking it in and you can have more control over your scrolling.
Another nice feature is the back. You pop the button and right here is a little eject button and this little receiver fits into your laptop and this is really tiny so the best part of this receiver is that it will actually be somewhat flash with your laptops so it doesn’t stick out all the way. It takes two triple-A batteries and there is also a power button right here to shut your mouse off. When you’re done put your receiver back and it automatically shuts off the mouse, goes it up in your hand. It also comes up with the nice little bag to carry them and finally we have the digital camera.
This is a Panasonic Lumix FX150. It’s 14 mega pixels, wide angle lens, it also has a nice, I think it’s a three-inch LCD. Let me actually turn this on here. You can actually see the big screen, you have your control buttons here. On the top, you have your power button, your photos. Now, the nice thing about this camera is that it’s small, really light weight. It’s 14 mega pixels and takes wonderful pictures. Another nice feature is it also takes format as well as JPEG. So, if you want to edit your videos in photo shop you can withdraw the images.
Now, the only downside of this camera is pictures at high modification, high zoom, we tend to get a little grainy and you can actually see it online, some of my photos in flicker, if you actually go to the original picture, you can actually see that it’s fairly grainy at 14 mega pixels. Several functions, there’s intelligent auto focus, there’s a manual mode, we can actually bracket pictures and you know set your exposure.
Again, it’s a very nice little camera. It takes a standard. This is actually the battery removable, rechargeable. We’ll get into that a little bit and also it takes SD cards. Here I have a 16 gig, just slash right in. Battery, rechargeable, the only downside is this battery needs to be taken out of the camera to charge in this little—right here, charger. Therefore if you want to take exempted pictures and you’re battery goes dead you will need a second battery and you guys pick one up, our name is on .com and I’ll send a post links for this too.
So, that’s all I have for tech gadgets. I hope you find these as important as I do. Once again, the travel—about $20.00, the Logitech, the X-Nano runs about $60.00 and the Lumix FX150 from Panasonic runs around anywhere from $270.00 to about $350.00 depending on where you shop online. Well, I hope you’ve enjoyed this video and have a safe and Happy Holiday.
