Eten M800 - Review
This is Phone Arena’s video review of the Eten M800. This is the high-end of the manufacturer with integrated way for messaging. The design is similar to the one of the X800 and points out that the phone is targeted to the professional customer. The only strange thing is the bronze color it might looks covering the back of the upper slider, invisible once the phone is open and it the QWERTY keyboard revealed.
The slider can be pushed even with one finger only. The QWERTY is great and helps for fast text input but it has a strange green backlight but the side keys are not comfortable at all. There are tiny and pretty flat which makes them hard to feel and press. When holding the phone with one hand and trying to press the power button it does accurately for the slider to move slightly which causes inconvenience. Operating the capacitive keys is even worst. They are not responsive enough and after a few seconds of inactivity lock one must press the screen or the joy stick to activate them.
An option allows you to add vibration as a notification when the key has been pressed. The display also is the best thing one could expect. In bright environment you search for shades to be able to read it. However, it is Viewty is revealed in indoors as it has VGA resolution, the details are superb and even the user interface as if the next generation phone. When it comes to previewing your photo or reading the last text or page in the browser it is something of that the 4x larger resolution is a plus.
The user interface is the standard for the Windows Mobile 6 operating system and it is absolutely identical to the one of X800. It has the same personalization of the home screen which adds four tabs for quick access to some applications such as last used shortcuts, weather forecasts and quick dial or favorite’s contacts. Although it needs, it is not as personalized as the Touch FLO of the HTC phones.
The other personalization options included increased system found in the contact’s list and when entering a message we designed on screen QWERTY keyboard and the easy keypad which is suitable for the landscape mode only because otherwise it does not arrange correctly. Unlike the Eten phones holding the home button will open the menu with nice shortcuts and pressing it once again will open the M-desk which all that most of the phones functions and put apps for faster access.
The rest of the operating system is identical to other Windows Mobile phones with all of its pros and cons. The phone is neither the fastest one nor the slowest phone but if you think it access slow try to clear its RAM memory using the preloaded task manager. We are rather disappointed by the sound quality during the call although it is above the average for such enterprise model that would have lack to have excellent sound.
Overall, the Eten M800 is a good phone but the time to is better. However if you're looking for high resolution screen the M800 has no competition at the moment.
