Eton Micro link FR150 Radio - Review
Hey, guys. After I posted my last video showing this radio there seemed to be a lot of interest in it in the comment section. So this is going to be my official review on this radio. It’s an Eton FR150 radio and it is a very small radio, five inches by a little over two and 1.75 and from what you get with it being that small is excellent. It has FM bands, AM bands and it has all of seven NOA weather bands, National, Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
It weighs 7.5 ounces and it has an internal NIMH battery and it is self-powered. There is no plug for it. There are three ways to charge the internal battery. One of the ways is with the solar panel on top. Another way is the hand crank on the side and the last way is with the USB plug connected to your computer. Also I have this opened. There is a headphone plug and there’s a plug that you can charge your cellphone with which is another great feature of this radio. Say you're lost in the woods hiking, camping, backpacking or whatever in an emergency chaotic situation. You may need to charge your cellphone to communicate with someone and ask for help and how you at charge that is it came with the wire and this may or may not work on your phone. It also came with a card. So if you're phone cannot plug into it with the stuff it comes with, go send you an adopter if you fill out the correct information.
So you plug it in, you power everything off and you crank the radio and the time varies for each phone depending on the battery but they said the averaged crank time is 10 to 15 minutes per one minute of talk time on your phone. So it will take a little bit of effort but it’s an emergency it will be well worth it and certainly better than not having it at all.
Also this radio has a flashlight. It’s three LED’s, it’s not the brightest flashlight in the world but it’s better than nothing. To use the radio, there is a little antenna, it’s not too big. Be careful not to break it though, I've broken them in the past. There is a tuning knob right here and there’s an on and off and volume control right here. So the sound comes in pretty clear and it’s a mono speaker and over here is the selector switch for AM, FM and the weather band channels. There are seven of them like I said and up here is the tuning dial so you can see what station you're on and this radio comes in all kinds of different colors, I choose chameleon, I believe there is black, white, orange, red and there’s probably some other ones I haven’t seen.
And just looking and feeling this radio you can tell it’s pretty high quality. I mean there are some cheap ones out there and you can tell, this one is well built, nothing rattles. It just seems very, very good quality. I spent $25.00 on it and that was on sale. I think the going rate on line is like $30.00 and I would say it’s definitely well worth it and I would definitely recommend it for what you get in this little package is very valuable especially in any kind emergency situation. This would be a great item for your bug out bag even just to have it at home. It would be good to bring with you camping or backpacking and you'll be able to stay updated on the weather, national emergencies. You can just listen to music, charge your phone, and have an extra emergency flash light.
So overall I think it’s pretty good and I guess that’s basically it for right now. I hope everyone has a great Happy New Year and be safe. I’ll talk to you guys later, bye.
