Kim Turner: We're going to make sense to your fashion wardrobe, we want to add a little bit more style without breaking the bank? Well! You have tuned into the right place. I'm Kim Turner, here FashionCents. We provide tips on how to achieve a stylish look with our without breaking the bank, make sense? Hi Tam!
Tamara Markey: Hi! Kim, how are you?
Kim Turner: Oh! I'm amazing, how are you?
Tamara Markey: I'm good. Thanks.
Kim Turner: So, Tim you're called into the show, and we are so excited to have you. Tell us a little bit about why you feel like you needed a make-over? Tell me what's your style?
Tamara Markey: Oh! I don't even know if I have my style anymore. I shop on an as-needed basis. My days of looking through in style magazine and other fashion magazines are long gone. Sometimes I don't know what trends are in or out and I need some style definition.
Kim Turner: So I know you have your 10-year-old around the house, Miles, right? And he has an opinion of your style.
Tamara Markey: Yes, a very strong one.
Kim Turner: Okay, well let's get Miles out and see what he thinks of it.
Miles: I think that she looks fine when she's around the house and the only time she really gets like dress up is when she goes out with my dad or she has a party to go to.
Kim Turner: So do you think you'd like to see her a little bit more dressed up around the house too?
Miles: Yes, because her outfits are kind of boring. She needs to do this.
Kim Turner: So that's why we're here for today is to help Tam rediscover herself and when you're trying to figure out what you are style is you should evaluate four things.
Tam one of the first things we evaluate when we're trying to identify somebody's style, is what their lifestyle is. So tell me a little bit about your lifestyle that what your daily routine is like?
Tamara Markey: I'm mom, so I get up in the morning and it's go, go, go. You know I get dressed as quickly as possible and the goal was to get the kids off door on time into school.
Once my two oldest ones are off to school I'm home with my three-year-old. We're going to gymnastics, we're going to swimming, we're going to playgroups and there is a little time in there for me to go exercise here and there. But it's very active, non-stop lifestyle from about 3 o'clock until 6:30 I'm the chauffeur of the household.
Kim Turner: The second thing we consider are your clothing preferences. So how you like to feel in your clothing? What types of clothing you'd like and is comfortable for you? So tell me a little bit about the types of clothing you like?
Tamara Markey: I like to be comfortable just there. So my daily uniform typically will consist of a top and my jeans or a long sleeve T-shirt and some warm-up pants. Something you know that I can get in the floor and play with my three old or gymnastics isn't just me sitting on the side lines, I'm actually out there with Gabriel, doing gymnastics. So yes I've to be very comfortable, flexible, nothing up tight and just free.
Kim Turner: So the third thing we evaluate is your personality, and so although you're going to playgroups and you're running kids around and you don't allow the things that doesn't necessarily define who Tam is? Who are you? Tell me about your personality.
Tamara Markey: I'd like to feel pretty. I do and you know even though I'm doing those things, I would like to feel nice about what I have on. My husband likes to see me look nice on a daily basis. Sometimes he comes in the door and I think oh! Gosh I've got my uniform again, but he would be a lot happier if I had something outside and like Miles said, when we go out on dates or we go to parties I dress up and I enjoy the time of dressing up and getting ready. I'd like to look sexy for my husband. I'd like to look cute and in fashionable.
Kim Turner: So the last thing we think about is what you want to communicate, because you know that people looking at you and in 3 seconds they pass judgment on who you are without you ever saying a word. So when people see you what do you want them to take away? What do you want to communicate?
Tamara Markey: I want them to think that, I know she is a busy mom but she looks cool, she looks fit, she looks chic. She has got that all together, that would be nice.
Kim Turner: So we evaluated Tam on the four things; her lifestyle, her clothing preferences, her personality and what message she wanted to communicate and from that we've learned that she is a sexy, sporty mom. So we went to find other moms who had their style and we absolutely love them. They are Victoria Beckham, Jada Pinkett Smith and Kimora Lee Simmons.
Now when Tam looses inspiration for shopping, she can grab some pictures of these celebrity icons and head out to the stores and replicate their looks. I had it out to Bloomingdales for their End of the Season sale and get 30% off of already discounted prices and I think you'll love her look and the price.
So this sleeveless dress shows up your great arms and then when it's a little cool outside, you just add a crop of color with this and the dress is classic enough that you'll be able to keep it for years. And the jacket adds a little bit of trend for your season. So we have given Tam the look that will make moms and her playgroup jealous. What do you think?
Tamara Markey: I feel so pretty. I love it, I love it.
Kim Turner: And we've kept in mind all of her four things. So we know that she has got a very busy lifestyle and she needs clothing that's very easy. So she has on just a one piece dress and a jacket that's just simple to pull over the top. We have also kept in mind that you need clothing that is very comfortable and this dress, she can crawl on the floor and play around here.
Tamara Markey: I mean I put it on like bent over and nothing showing, it's totally flux free. I love it, I love it and I feel pretty and I can chase Gabriel around and look good too.
Kim Turner: Well, that's great, because that was the third thing is your personality and you wanted to feel more feminine and pretty and that we already know we're communicating her right style because moms in the playgroup are going to be jealous of this hip, sexy mom. So Miles what do you think?
Miles: I think my mom looks very nice and I think that this new outfit would put her old outfit to shame.
Tamara Markey: Thank you!
Kim Turner: So we've also given Tam a dress that's really versatile. She can save the pink jacket for spring, but now in the winter time she could put it over a long sleeve T-shirt and still have a great comfortable look.
Female Speaker: Hi guys! Looking for a way to make your 9 to 5 look work harder for you after 5, try the pocket square. If you work in a conservative business environment like baking or some sales organizations, you probably wear a suit everyday or if you're just a traditional dresser, a blazer is a staple and now so is the pocket square.
This staple will help you look instantly cool and fashionable, pretty inexpensive. You can find them only for $699 at the Men's Wearhouse. But two quick things one, don't make the mistake of wearing it in the office. It is too dressy for that and you look out of place. Save it for after 5.
Two, you do not have to have on that tight wear pocket square, but if you do don't make them match. Really, the garanimals look is only okay if you're under 8-years-old. Make sense?
Kim Turner: See, we have got something for everybody. So thanks for watching and keep checking this out!
