Hey, what’s up everybody? It's Aaron. I just did a lesson on this song with no capo of finger picking and some stuff. I want to show you a lesson really quick on how to strum this if you like to play capo on open course and you’re kind of a beginner. So, when the guitar is in standard tuning, I want you to put your capo on the first fret, okay. Once your capo is in the first fret, you’re going to play a series of chords, okay. You’re going to play a G and Bm7, the G, the Bm7 and you’re going to do that—G, Bm7, G, Bm7, G, Bm7 three times and you go C, Em, C, D, G, Bm, C. I’m going to give you guys the chords, so just take a look at these tablets over here and I’ll try and give you a little bit of a strum pattern through the song just so you can get a feel for how the chords go together. But like I said, you get your G chord and I’ll play four finger G, the middle finger. I’m going to get that from top to bottom. So starting six, five, four, three, two, one and I’m going to tell you where your finger is, okay. Sixth string, middle finger in third fret, pointer finger in second fret, open, open, ring finger in the third fret, the pinky thing—pinky finger third fret.
[Demonstration]
Let’s say, third fret is above the capo, okay. Bm7, you’ve got to bar across on the second fret above the capo, bar across the bottom five strings, ring finger and the middle are the ones you’re using. Your middle finger goes on the second fret B string—I’m sorry third fret B string and your finger goes on the fourth fret above the capo and D string. [Demonstration] That’s your Bm7 chord sounds like. You get your G, you get a C chord here. You’ll found the C chord here—but the top string, you don’t play it. Try to meet it with your thumb on a C chord because your bass note comes from the C note which is third fret of your A string, okay. So when your A string get in the third fret, above the capo. Second fret above the capo at the middle, open, B string pointed finger first fret above the capo, high is open, okay. At your C, you guys know the D chord is, Em chord, you guys know that is in the—.
All right, here’s what we’re going to do. I’m going to get my iPod, so I’m going to track it down. All right, I’m going to listen to a version that I played earlier. I was reporting the song earlier just going around, and I’m going to listen to this song’s version and I’m going to strum along with the chords. So I’ll try to say the chords out loud as I’m strumming, this is one of the ones I want you to try to figure out, the strum pattern yourself. So G, Bm7, G, Bm7, G, Bm7, C, Em, C, D, G, Bm7, C, D, G, Bm7, C, Em, D, G, Bm7, C, Em, D, Am, Em, G, Bm7, C, Em, D, G. All right guys, let me tell you where this end and take a look at the tab, that was just the chords. Listen to the song. Listen to this part of me just playing to whatever you need to do. Strum these chords. Get familiar with it. It’s a great song. I love to use some covers of it if you guys want to give it a shot so I hope this helps.
